A P.E.I. software company is giving UPEI students a chance to develop the next big smart phone app.
UPEI business student Lusi Chen is working on an app called Travel Cheap. (CBC) Timeless Technologies is looking for new ideas and new people to work with in this growing industry. Five teams of UPEI business and computer science students are competing in the Big Pitch, a Dragon's Den style competition in front of a panel of potential investors.
"This is a bit of an awareness program for us. A lot of business students that I've run into in the last few years, they're just not aware of how many technology companies there are on the Island," said Timeless Technologies president John Rowe.
"We wanted to engage students, get their creative juices flowing, and we thought what better way to do it than to have an Island Dragon's Den. We hope to be very pleasantly surprised with some really, really cool ideas."

"All the young want to travel all over the world, connect with different websites and data, we really want to share these ideas and we want to build this website up. It's really good idea to co-operate with this company. It's pretty exciting."
The winning team will develop their app with company engineers over four months this summer. They will also get $50,000 to market the idea, and will share in the profits.
The Big Pitch happens Thursday afternoon at UPEI's School of Business and is open to the public.
