2010 IT Job Fair ~ A Tremendous Success with 365 Job Seekers, 19 Employers & 114 IT Positions!
CHARLOTTETOWN: The Innovation and Technology Sector Council (ITSC) hosted its 4th Annual IT Job Fair on Wednesday, March 24th at the Atlantic Technology Center from 10:00-4:00pm. The results of the Job Fair were incredible! Organizers were thrilled to have 365 Job Seekers attend the event. Job seekers came to meet with 19 Leading IT Employers from the Island, all of which were recruiting for specific positions. There were a total of 114 IT Industry career opportunities available to various levels of skill & experience.
Natasha McCarthy, IT Job Fair Coordinator; 'We are thrilled with the success of this year's IT Job Fair. With the largest turnout yet we attribute that success to the fact that all Employers at the Job Fair were hiring & the available positions were marketed in advance to candidates. Job Seekers were well informed knowing ahead of time what organizations were attending & what positions they wanted to apply for. They came prepared & employers were extremely pleased with the number of qualified candidates.'
Allan Campbell, Minister of Innovation & Advance Learning opened the event this year & was definitely pleased with its success. The employers who participated were also very pleased with the experience & education levels of job seekers who attended. The event was a huge success & the IT Sector Council looks forward to hosting its 5th Annual Job Fair next year.
Some of the Innovation & Technology Businesses who were recruiting at the Job Fair included: CGI, ScreenScape Networks, GeoSurf, Timeless Technologies, Cogsdale, DeltaWare, Other Ocean & Bight Interactive Games.
