Our Focus
ITAP's activities are focused on two key mandates: advocacy and support to our members, through projects in the key areas of export development, communication and leadership development.
About ITAP
ITAP, the Innovation and Technology Association of Prince Edward Island, is a non-profit organization dedicated to growing and developing the Prince Edward Island technology industry. ITAP's membership is comprised of over 70 members comprised of approximately 40 private sector businesses, and approximately 30 suppliers, public sector representatives, students and individuals. Our mandate is guided by our members' needs.
Advocacy
ITAP provides key decision makers such as government with the information and guidance needed to foster growth within the technology industry.
ITAP has developed policies and provided position papers on key developments such as:

ITAP maintains an Industry Capacity Profile that is available to government to keep up-to-date on the state of the industry and its members. This profile is a comprehensive database of information about members, including their core competencies, skills, products and services, and development interests.
Communications
ITAP distributes relevant industry information to members and promotes the value of its members' products and services to government, the private sector and the public.
ITAP engages in public relations initiatives for the promotion of the industry.
ITAP distributes industry and members' marketing materials to private and public sector representatives at local, regional, national and international events.

Business Development
ITAP markets members' products and services to create export opportunities and to stimulate growth within the Prince Edward Island technology industry.
ITAP hosts business development and social events that serve as catalysts for business opportunities and the creation of industry partnerships by offering members opportunities to interact with representatives from various sectors.
ITAP assists member companies in the development of marketing initiatives for their innovations, products and services to national and international markets at trade shows, conventions, and events such as Softworld 2002.
The ITAP public website enables interested parties to search the membership database for ITAP members' core competencies.
The ITAP private website enables members to submit and download RFPs.
ITAP hosts IT Week, an annual event that promotes technology products and services to government, the private sector and the public.
Workforce Development
ITAP continually assesses the gap between the skills of the current technology workforce and the future labour market requirements in order to develop training initiatives with post secondary institutions and government partners.
ITAP works with members and various public and private sector partners to create internship and apprenticeship opportunities for technology graduates.
ITAP coordinates professional development workshops for industry members.
The ITAP private website enables members to access professional development content and to view employment opportunity listings.
Student members of ITAP can participate in mentoring programs and networking opportunities to reinforce their skills and promote their abilities.
